Before 1999, as a Representative Office first, and then as a Branch Office of Toyota Tsusho Corporation, we were set up to support export business to South Africa and, in conjunction with Toyota South Africa, the export of South African manufactured vehicles.
In 1999 we became Toyota Tsusho Africa (TTAF); a subsidiary of Toyota Tsusho Corporation, a company within its own rights. This growth set us up for later expansion that would support the growth of local Toyota manufacturing, in response to increasing sales and export demands.

Acquiring seven Toyota Distributors in 2001 across Africa, signaled Toyota Tsusho Africa serving as the Africa operations base for Toyota Tsusho Corporation; i.e., ownership of the Distributors and not simply Toyota Motor Corporation support of dealers as had previously been the case. This formed the basis of expansion of African business as our Distributor Network was established and continued to grow.

In order to continue providing efficient service to our customer, Toyota, as well as to our Distributors; the Parts and Accessories export business into Africa was established together with the opening of a Vehicle Logistics Centre; a central storage facility for Japanese manufactured vehicles exported into Africa which later in 2007 moved onto new premises and 2 years later expanded even further.

In 2017, after Toyota Tsusho Corporation acquired 100% ownership of CFAO, ownership of all Toyota Tsusho Corporation’s existing African assets, including Toyota Tsusho Africa and it’s owned subsidiaries, were transferred to CFAO.
Being part of the CFAO Group not only strengthens our position in the Automotive business, but also makes us a powerful force on the continent.
Today, our supply and support network extends across 32 Countries for Toyota & Hino and in collaboration with CFAO across 35 countries for various multi brands.
